The hum indicates the drum is hard to turn or the motor switch is sticking and you can ohm out the 3 mptor start and run wires. They are grey and brown along with a tan wire.At the motor with the wires still connected use a multimeter set to ohms and measure the brown wire to the grew wire, this reading should be an open circuit.
Try turning the drum manually in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other units to get a feel for it.If it is hard to turn then it is a drum mounting problem. If it turns ok the odds are that you need a new motor.
Basically i put the dryer on and when it hums open the door, spin the drum and close the door quickly. Its difficult to do as you cant get the drum to turn much as it has a lot of resistance.I do it a differnt way in the video so be very careful not to do this if you do not have any idea about electrics.
When i start the dryer with a normal sized load of clothes in it, the motor doesnt want to turn.I hear a loud humming noise, then it stops as if there is a thermal overload protection on the motor. If i remove half the clothes, it does start turning, but it still hums for the first few seconds and sounds like it has a hard time starting to.
If the drum makes squealing or grinding sounds when turned andor is hard to turn, replace the drum bearing.Drum slide, glide or pad one or more of the drum glides also called slides might be worn out.The drum glides are small plastic pieces that support the front of the dryer drum.As the drum rotates, it slides on these plastic pieces.
Electric dryer wont start and led lights are on.If the dryer hums when the start switch is activated, or if the motor runs only while activating the start switch, the motor might be defective or something might be binding the drum preventing it from turning freely. If the dryer.
If the start switch fails the dryer wont start or make any noise.Test the switch with an ohm meter or continuity checker. If the dryer hums when the start switch is activated, or if the motor runs only while activating the start switch, the motor might be defective or something might be binding the drum preventing it from turning freely.
If the dryer just hums it means that the drum is either jammed or the start winding on the motor isn39t engagingonly the run winding.Open the door and turn the drum by hand to make sure the drum isn39t jammed.
My maytag dryer model is maytag de608 is a pretty old one.Now it wont turn acctually it turned a little bit and stopped and the timer button cannot be pressed down.I did some test. When i lose the belt, the motor turned and the timer button could be pressed down. Then i took the drum out.I tried turning roller, pulley and motor with.
